Ruy Lopez
The Ruy Lopez is one of the most studied openings. Characterised by 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5, it’s still a popular opening in spite of being over 500 years old. There’s a huge body of theory, but there are still innovations being found. The Anand-Shirov game below showcases a line that’s recently become popular.
